This Watch Used to be a Porsche 911

You could own a Porsche 911, or you could own this slick looking wristwatch. It’s kind of the same thing. How, you ask? Well, this wristwatch is forged from the metal of actual Porsche 911’s series cars from the air cooled era!

That’s right. The watch carries 52 years of Porsche’s iconic automotive legacy within its metal construction. Made from salvaged parts of the Porsche 911 series, and featuring many subtle references to the car’s iconic design, the 901 Collection pays a fitting tribute to Porsche’s timeless vehicles by breathing new life into it. Not only does it reduce waste by recycling a material, it also ensures that a legendary classic isn’t put to rest in a junkyard… keeping Porsche’s spirit running for essentially another lifetime.

The design of the watch balances itself between capturing the vintage/undying spirit of the Porsche automobile, but also at the same time being a beautiful state of the art watch. Each watch dial is unique, showcasing the grain pattern of the refurbished metal taken from the car. Each and every detail tips a hat to Porsche’s design language, be it from the dashboard, to the rims, to the seat trim detail, to even the Porsche font that features on the numbers on the dial. Above this grand celebration of design, rests a Sapphire Crystal Glass with three anti-reflective coatings, giving you a clear window into probably the most significant milestone in car design.

The watch comes in three variants, catering to the three spirits of the 911. Patrons get to choose between styles that embody vintage, contemporary, and turbo. All watches come with the Miyota caliber 9100, a high precision, automatic Japanese movement designed to last you your entire life. Each and every watch also features a unique Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) engraved on the side along with a story card describing which 911 your watch was made from. While you’re at it, here’s also a link to a list of more than 150 Hollywood movies that featured the Porsche 911. How cool would it be to own not just a piece of the world’s favorite high-performance car, but also iconic movie memorabilia! Perfect for the automobile enthusiast and movie buff alike!

Pininfarina goes from Auto to Audio!

When you bring together the renowned precision of German technology and the revered panache of Italian design, you know you have the formula for a product with a spectacular aesthetic and experience!

Designed by none other than Italian design powerhouse, Pininfarina (the force behind Ferrari’s design legacy), the LZR 980 headphones exude a class you don’t see in many headphones. Designed for German audio company, Magnat, known for their car audio systems and home audio systems, the LZR 980 is the flagship headphone of Magnat’s newly launched range of wearable audio.

As would be customary for a company known for designing the most famous cars of our time, the design exercise for the LZR 980 started with a deep analysis of function and ergonomics. The result was a newly developed polygonal shape for the earpiece cups that redefine comfort. The aesthetic on the outer shell takes on a rather automotive vibe too, with an organic surface punctuated by a ridge running from left to the right, reminiscent of automotive styling and detailing. Under this hallmark of Italian styling lies Magnat’s state-of-the-art audio drivers, precision built in a vacuum chamber using laser measuring technology for accuracy the Germans are lauded for.

Available in the four classic colors (metallic black, white, silver, and gold) and with the Pininfarina logo shining proudly on the headband, the LZR 980 shows that the Italian design house knows how to set a high standard for design… whether for car drivers, or audio drivers!

Superman’s X-Ray vision in your phone!

While the tech giants of our time are busy putting two and three cameras inside one phone, there’s an electronics company based in Sichuan, China that’s silently changing the entire smartphone game. The H2, debuted at CES this year is now shipping out to various countries worldwide. What’s so special about this phone? Right beside its camera, lies a spectrometer, capable of identifying, and cataloging every material and chemical known to man!

Dubbed as the phone with X-Ray vision, the H2 is a smartphone that may just build the foundation for phones that are actually smart. In a world dominated by fake news, and with most organizations trying to fight the rising tide of “alternative facts”, the H2 plays a significant step of giving you an accurate depiction of the world around you. Imagine being able to scan food and know whether it has any allergens, or if it is past its sell date. Imagine knowing that the diet soda you’re having actually has sugar in it, or even more importantly, if your cocktail has been spiked. The H2 phone becomes the magnifying glass you hold against the world, essentially giving the phone a truly new function… something that hasn’t happened ever since the smartphone became your biometric lock & key (with the fingerprint scanner, introduced roughly 4 years ago). The spectrometer on the phone isn’t just capable of working with foods. It can even do as much as pick up biostats, essentially being able to read your body fat percentage, or your blood sugar, or even more work in sync with your body and identify if the medication you’re taking is actually helping you or doing you harm.

The H2 is still, spectrometric magic aside, quite a great phone. It ships with both front and back cameras, a fingerprint scanner, a 6inch HD screen, 3000mAh polymer battery (much safer than the lithium ion ones), and a rather nifty button on the side that gives your phone an adrenaline boost by clearing memory caches and prolonging battery life. Easily the Superman of phones, I’d say!
