Gadget Gymnastics!

We’ve gone from computers to the size of rooms, to smaller desktop computers, to laptops, and now we can hold them in our palms, with smartphones. However, nothing really beats the joy of “hands free”, doesn’t it! The Ridge Stand was made for the people who want their technology to be at arms distance, but not in one’s arms. The stands come in three size variants, capable of docking laptops, tablets and phones. Their build quality is so incredible, it can hold more than 5 times its own weight. Not only do they hold your laptop/tablet/smartphone, the powerful friction hinges allow you to even position your device at any angle you choose (and keep it in that position), while the polyurethane rings prevent your gadgets from slipping off the stand.

Ever since gadgets have gotten smaller, they’ve had profound effects on our postures. We hunch in front of laptops, sleep with our smartphones, and that’s nothing short of a physiological disaster. The ridge stands make your gadgets position themselves according to your ergonomic needs, rather than the other way around. They’re made to even route and segregate the cables from behind the gadgets, managing them beautifully, hidden from sight. What’s more, the entire Ridge stand is foldable, becoming compact to fit into a travel case and be carried around with you!

The Ridge stand makes a perfect dock for people who spend hours in front of their gadgets (case in point: virtually everyone). Whether you’re at an office or work-from-home person, the Ridge Stand+ for your laptop allows you to elevate your machine by 200 centimeters to get that desktop style angle. The Ridge also makes a brilliant mount for people who use their front facing camera to vlog or share stories/selfies. Use it in the gym, kitchen, or in bed for getting that perfect screen position while your hands are busy working out, cooking, or munching popcorn. The applications for the Ridge stand are truly endless… because why worry about adjusting your screen when you can adjust your entire laptop/tablet/smartphone to any position or angle you want it!

Reincarnation by design

reborn_1

For people who’ve lost a pet, it can be a difficult phase to get through. Especially explaining it to children can be extremely difficult and heart-rending. Reborn doesn’t make the grief go away, but helps gain closure, and transition the love from pet, to plant. Reborn is an egg that contains soil, a seedling, and the departed pet’s ashes wrapped within a porous, fragile shell. The shell is placed in the soil and in no time, the seedling hatches out of it, becoming a reincarnated embodiment of the deceased pet’s spirit.

An unusual and wonderful way to help children come to terms with the death of a pet, and gracefully teach them about life after death.

Beoplay’s iMac inspired speaker!

beoplay_m6_1

Bang and Olufsen are known to make some quirky looking hi-end speakers, but the Beoplay M6 isn’t one of them. On the contrary, it was built to integrate into households rather than stand out. The cylindrical (Apple’s iMac, anyone?) speaker packs some punch and can be used as a single unit, or with the BeoLink Multiroom functionality to pair itself with other M6 speakers around the house.

What the M6 does differently in form, it makes up for by sticking to a premium color palette that’s familiar to B&O’s visual language. Usage of matte plastic and matte metal with a stylishly woven fabric gives the speaker a more hand-made rather than an industrial, machine-assembled touch. My personal favorite is the design detail on the top of the speakers. At the center sits the B&O logo, with a ripple design spreading outwards, not only creating wonderful reflections and a great tactile feel, it also depicts the outward flow of audio waves from a central Bang and Olufsen logo. Beautiful in its symbolism!

Go Beyond with the Land Rover Bike

lrb_01

Even the early Land Rover’s were a status symbol and this modern Land Rover is no exception. Demure yet aggressive, this bike translates the brand’s sharp aesthetics and go-anywhere attitude in the form of a dual-purpose rock hopper. Finishes modeled after the Rover’s lux interior include tan stitched leather, a metallic white body, with glossy black and matte black accents, as well as anodized black hardware. Throw it in the back of your Range and no place will be off limits!

It’s Hip to be Connected

hip_01

Hip replacements have a high rate of success, but those who’ve received one must ensure they’re taking care of their new joint. As the name suggests, Hip Connect puts patients in touch with their artificial joint like never before.

The wearable device fits comfortably on the leg and utilizes a series of sensors to detect motion and force. This data is transferred wirelessly to an easy-to-use app on the user’s smartphone which alerts them if they are putting their joint at risk through physical activity. Additionally, the system can help make lifestyle suggestions so the user can remain active and healthy while getting the most out of their implant.
